The annual Harvest Moon Dance sponsored by the Beaufort County Democratic Party on Saturday, November 10th was a tremendously successful fundraising event! Hundreds of Democrats came out to socialize with friends and neighbors, receive motivation and inspiration from our South Carolina Legislators, Senator Clementa Pinckney and Representative Reverend Kenneth Hodges, eat lots of really good food, and dance away their cares for this one night. The Beaufort County Democratic Party wishes to thank all of our sponsors, speakers, program participants, and each and every one of our guests. Special thanks to our 2007 Harvest Moon Dance Planning Committee members: Chairperson Pat Goodman, Beverly Dore, Party Chair, Joe Lyons, Janet Wedlock, Ocie Holmes, Ann Rafferty, Blaine Lotz, Edgar Williams, Lamar Burt, Paul Russo, Bill Palcic, Bubba Holmes, Connie Marchese, Mary Dickhaut, Ken Goodman, Betsy Horn, Mary Roberts, Sue Yearwood, Jacey Gordon, Bob Nachman, Janet Thomas and Allan S. Yard. Highlights of the evening were the award to Brent Weaver, former South Carolina State Democratic Party Treasurer and the address of South Carolina State Senator Clementa Pinckney. Allan Yard, Treasurer of the Beaufort County Democratic Party (BCDP), presented Brent Weaver with an engraved Crystal Bowl expressing the sincere appreciation of the BCDP for all of his help to, and support for, the County Party during his 10 year tenure as State Party Treasurer. Senator Pinckney gave a stirring address outlining once again why we are Democrats and noting that we have all made that choice voluntarily. Blaine Lotz, 1st Vice Chairman of the County Party, introduced the attending dignitaries from around the state. In addition, we acknowledge the visible and unwavering support of our Democratic neighbors, Mr. Arthur Murphy and the Jasper County Democratic Party and former Representative Thayer Rivers, who introduced our speaker. Cathy Hensiley, the current treasurer of the SCDP also was on hand to make remarks from the SCDP Executive Committee. Since the year 2000, the Harvest Moon Dance has been an honored Fundraising tradition for the Beaufort County Democratic Party, and has continually maintained its zest and appeal to Democrats from Sheldon to Sea Pines. This year was no exception! Beverly Smith Dore,
Chair
