Beaufort County Chairman Receives Award
Mrs. Dore, the first African-American Chair of the Beaufort County Democratic Party, was a delegate to the National Democratic Convention in 2004. She has been instrumental in building increased participation in local party activities, implementing effective fundraising, expanding the county membership base and strengthening the state party through networking. Mrs. Dore has been appointed by Congressman Jim Clyburn to the SCDP Committee on Party Operations and Leadership. During her term as Chairperson for the Beaufort Voter Registration Committee, she conducted 34 voter registration drives and registered more than 1000 citizens in a six-week period. Dore, an adjunct professor for Wheelock College in Boston, Mass., is a member of the National Education Assn., SCEA and BCEA-Retired and the Congressional Contact Team for the NEA. She has been actively involved in the Democratic Party most of her life and has held several offices at the precinct and county levels. She has been a delegate to all local and state Democratic Party Conventions for the past 20 years. Dore is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority where she is a member of their Political Action Committee. She has served on the board of the Beaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs since 1981. |
