Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in downtown Beaufort

3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

2008 Fish Fry a Big Success!

Intermittent rain didn't disrupt the event, which was held under the pavilion at Waterfront Part in downtown Beaufort. Over 400 people enjoyed a meal of fresh-fried fish and with all the trimmings. Rev. Steve Keeler opened the program with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Will Lutz. Quentin Bell then sang the National Anthem.

County Chair, Beverly Dore introduced Jay Parmley, Executive Director of the South Carolina Democratic Party. Jay gave a rousing speech and energized the crowd by stated that South Carolina can become a blue state with our help. Ron Daise and Company brought the crowd to its feet by singing his original song "Reach for Hope." The featured speaker from the Obama campaign, Abe Jenkins, asked the crowd to get involved in campaign activities and help elect a democratic president in November.

First Vice-Chair, Blaine Lotz, assisted Second Vice-Chair, Edgar Williams, in awarding certificates to 14 Democrats for their life-long service to the Beaufort County Democratic party. Honored were Bill Hodsdon, Bob Dixon, Frieda Mitchell, Harriet Keyserling, Venice Young, Lawrence Washington, Tom Israel, Thomas Mack, Marion Gamache, Margie Jenkins, Louis King, Ruben Green, Ruth King, and Tom Barnwell.

Many thanks go to all the sponsors of this event and the volunteers who made it possible!
